The Basics Of Keyword Research (After Google Panda)

keyword researchKeyword Research; Did you do it?

The basis of starting a blog and creating a successful online business is doing thorough keyword research.

Wikipedia defines Keyword research as:

a practice used by search engine optimization professionals to find and research actual search terms people enter into the search engines when conducting a search. Search engine optimization professionals research keywords in order to achieve better rankings in their desired keywords

If you didn’t catch that, keyword research is basically figuring out exactly what people are searching for whenever they hit the search engines.

Now as you should know, Google is the #1 website in the world partly because they are the most basic search engine on the planet but not only that; Google has plenty of tools for users.

The main one SEO pros use is the Google Keyword Tool. This resource provided by Google is very powerful and shows what people are searching for online by a number of factors:

  • Monthly searches (both local and global)
  • Adwords competition (shows you if the advertisers are fighting over keywords; with dollars of course)
  • and many more that can be used but tend to be irrelevant

For my video, I want to show you the basics of keyword research using the Google keyword tool. I’m also showing you how to build a successful authority blog.

With the recent Google Panda update, SEO has changed. It’s a requirement that you know what tactics are good for SEO and which ones are a complete waste of times. It is one of the important things that you need to do if you’re looking to build a site that would get a lot of traffic from a certain audience via the search engines. Having mentioned the search engines, it’s a way of getting yourself noticed by the crawlers. When you do keyword research, you’ll be able to know how you’re going to make your content visible on the search results without sacrificing the quality of your posts.

I agree Gerald.. Google had made it harder to rank in with SEO by keywords but if you can put a flow to it and not go directly after keywords over and over again, I think you’ll be ok. I think it’s a matter of putting out targeted content first then thinking of SEO 2nd.

I may be wrong but I’m no SEO expert… At least after Panda I’m not.. LOL..

  • About Me…

Hi my name is Dennis Marshall (that's me) and I'm a full time blogger/affiliate marketer/internet marketer. I dibble and dabble in real estate also but my main focus is online. I wrote a book called "The Definition of Success and Why Yours Is Wrong" that got well over 3000 downloads in the first couple months (that's freakin' awesome). I'm always looking for new ways to crush it online and love to connect with like minded people.

I now go by Dennis the Blogging Menace (after Google Panda killed SEO) and you can find me on Twitter, Facebook and Google+
