5 Exclusive Reasons Every Stay At Home Mom Should Start A Blog Pt. 2 (Surprise!)

Stay At Home Mom Blog Recap

In part one of Why every stay at home mom should have a blog, I talked about why the time is now for all stay at home moms to start a blog and how you can possibly tap into an unknown niche by being unique.

In part 2, we’ll cover how your passion can become a separate profit stream for you and your family and a few more points I don’t want to just give away yet.

Create a profit stream from the privacy of home

Being able to work from home and set your own hours is really the reward of starting a blog. You can spend a few hours a day writing a blog post, posting comments, networking with other bloggers and basically building up your brand.

I said a few hours a day but the goal is to get down to a few hours a week. This is very possible through hiring virtual assistants to outsource the tedious tasks that take away from your time.

Hiring VAs is an art form and gives you more time to spend do what’s important to you while still earning an income.

One book I strongly recommend you read or get the audiobook, is The 4 Hour Work Week. This book has opened the eyes of millions to living a life a freedom. It just so happens that blogging is one of the best ways to start living that lifestyle.

Blogging can be a business and it’s like no other. You spend at the most 10 bucks on a domain name for a year. You then pay between 3 and 10 bucks for hosting per month. With one of my profit streams, I make my hosting payment back in 1 day.

There is barely any over head and you can almost trip and fall into making the money you pay out online.

Now some wish not to make money with their blog and that’s fully understandable. They just want a place to showcase their lives to the world.

The one thing that must come from your blogging is you being real. People love when they can connect with you. Offering recipes that made the kids jump for joy, time-saving tips and family vacations to theme parks. People love to see things like this because it sparks their imagination and makes them wonder. That’s the connection.

Opens Doors Down The Line

Right now, mommy blogging is bigger than ever. Stay at home moms are running empires while keeping a home in order. Now that’s task. I live by myself and I can barely keep socks off the floor.

Some mommy bloggers take advantage of the benefits of the internet. Once you get a following, you could do things like:[black_tick_list width="100%"]

  • Create and sell a recipe book or get a book deal
  • Get your own TV show (of course it would be great to start a YouTube channel first
  • Speaking engagements at popular events[/black_tick_list]

The possibilities are endless. I’m only naming things that have happened before. Moms have had mediocre fame from blogging which leads to huge advertising deals. As long as you stay true to you, your family and your audience, you can’t fail.

Your Kids Will Have A Totally Cool Hip Mom

Boy Excited with the InternetForget all the stuff I just said (not really) because this is the most important thing of all.

Your kids at show and tell being able to show their friends how COOL and HIP their mom is because she has a blog and YouTube videos.

I can only imagine the joy this would bring a mother as her child gets off the bus, running with a smile that, alone, could start a toothpaste company, so proud that they totally ROCKED at show and tell.

Conclusion

I say every mom should take advantage of this but the truth of the matter is, most people hear something good and nod their head in agreement and that’s it.

The numbers are usually around 5% for those who take action to make a difference in their lives. The other 95% are left reading more good content like this, watching impressive videos while nodding their head in agreement and repeating the process over again.

Blogging doesn’t have to be a business. It can be a way to connect with other mothers. It’s cheap and well worth the investment to be able to connect with other people from around the world.

I told you if you’re not tech savvy, that’s no excuse. There are people who will build you a custom blog for free. It’s just a matter of taking action. Not just with blogging but with anything in life. What will be your next move? Whatever it is, make it you best move.

Surprise! Here Are Some Moms That Took Action

Nothing inspires people better than seeing someone that’s done what they want to do. Here are some of the top mommy blogs i found on the internet.

Ashley Plus 3: Great blog about a stay at home mom named Ashley, her husband and their 2 beautiful kids. Packed full of family pictures, birthdays, vacations and special moments in their life, it’s a great depiction of what a family should look like.

I love that she decided to remove sponsors because she just wants to be a mother and have fun on her blog. It doesn’t get any more real than that.

Adventures Of The Stay At Home Mom: This would be a great blog to follow if you’re thinking of being a stay at home mom yourself. It can truly be an adventure and the time you have available, is priceless.

I loved the post where she talked about her horrible visit to the dentist. Who doesn’t dread those visits to the dentist right.

A Good Life: This is neat blog with a movie styled theme. It stars Amy (she’s running the show) and then co-stars her husband, Sam and their baby boy Parker. It’s a nice blog depicting their family life. I actually love the way the left sidebar is set up. Very creative. Very nice family blog.

Real Moms Real Views: This blog, run by not one, but three mommies, is a recipe for success. Not widely known yet, but experiencing a good amount of traffic and a nice page rank, this mommy blog has a different approach to gaining readership and traffic…giveaways!

Packed full of timely reviews, product details, and contests galore, this site is one to watch for a huge explosion.

5 Minutes for Mom: This fantastically put together, fun, and informative blog is founded and run by twin sisters, who are of course, also mommy’s.

Janice is a writer and former youth worker, while Susan is a former software developer. The site has a strong community feel and you’ll end up spending a lot longer than 5 minutes there, so beware! The two entrepreneurs also run two online stores and are definitely movers and shakers in the world of WAHMs.

Woo hoo – first to comment on this post!!

I gota say Dennis, I’m impressed with the content of your post. I know people who are selling that basic plan as an info product! Nice list of mum bloggers too which should really be an inspiration for people.

I am actually looking at interviewing for a VA this week. Quite a bit of background work involved in that if you want to do it right – you are hiring a staff member! But after training is completed it will definately lead me to being able to live the lifestyle I want but importantly it will also allow me to expand my business at a much faster pace!

BTW how did you get your signature image? I’m thinking of doing the same.

    Thanks,

Yea you’re the first Nick.. LOL.. Thanks for the recognition of this being a good post. Once I get some organic traffic, I think this will be one of the most popular. Might even turn it into a PDF, add some more content to it and create a blog on becoming a mommy blogger.

As for the signature, I just measured out the pixels, then went into photoshop and used a handwriting font. If you want, i could make you one. It only takes a few minutes. I just figured I’d do something to stand out.. I need to find a way to automatically put it at the end of all my posts.

Let me know if you want one.

      Thanks again

  • About Me…

Hi my name is Dennis Marshall (that's me) and I'm a full time blogger/affiliate marketer/internet marketer. I dibble and dabble in real estate also but my main focus is online. I wrote a book called "The Definition of Success and Why Yours Is Wrong" that got well over 3000 downloads in the first couple months (that's freakin' awesome). I'm always looking for new ways to crush it online and love to connect with like minded people.

I now go by Dennis the Blogging Menace (after Google Panda killed SEO) and you can find me on Twitter, Facebook and Google+
