6 Super Secret Tips That Command Readers To Open Your Blog Posts (+ free gift)
Would it be safe to say that my subject line got your attention and made you want to open this blog post? Either that or you really want to know how to get your blog posts read!
From my beginning days of blogging up to writing this, I’ve read a lot of blog posts and even more emails and I’ve paid attention to what’s gotten my attention.
It was either an attention grabbing headline or something I wanted to install to my memory banks. The purpose of this blog post is to give you 6 super secret tips that I use to command readers to open my blog posts.
Also, at the end of this post, I have a special gift for you that I’m giving away for FREE so after you read this article (and comment and share it), go get your stuff! You’ll like it…
Use Attention words
One of the first methods I do when creating a subject line is try to find a way to add an action word. I like to describe an action word as a ticking time bomb (in word form of course) that goes off once the reader scans across it.
Here are a list of some action words
- Wow
- Boom
- Super
- Amazing
- Best (ever)
- Stealth
- Must know (see or hear)
Create Exclusiveness
When creating exclusiveness, it’s important that you keep your potential readers in mind. Your main objective is to make them feel privileged to be able to read your blog post.
If done right, they will most likely share your work because they want someone to feel special like they do; but I wouldn’t depend on it because we live in a very selfish society. Just keep on writing good content.
Some words that will create exclusiveness are:
- Super Secret (I think I’ve used this one before)
- Once in a life time
- One of a kind
- Special
- Exclusive
Creating Some Mystery
Creating mystery is probably my favorite behind using the attention grabbing words. In creating mystery, you’re giving readers a nibble of the full coarse meal that’s available to them once they read it. This is done best in the introduction paragraph of a blog post.
In that, you tell the readers slightly what your blog post is about. I’m going to use a “shiny object” for an example.
You tell them how this “shiny object” has had an impact on your business and how it will help theirs. When readers get the image in their minds of how this “shiny object” is going to help them out, their now almost forced to read your blog posts.
If after reading, they feel that it will help them in some way, they’ll give you praise; either by commenting, contacting you personally and/or sharing it.
If it produces great results for them, you may get a testimonial which is something you will find to be almost as valuable as paper money.
A super secret trick I do with my blog posts is on the home blog screen. I have it set up to show full posts but if I let them read the full posts on the home screen, readers would read my posts and most likely leave without liking, commenting or sharing.
Can’t have that right?
So what I do is, add a “more” tag at a point in my blog posts where I think a reader would be the most anxious to read. Once they get to that point on the home screen, it lets them know if they want to continue reading that post, to click the link.

Special Offer (+free gift)
Adding a special offer just as I’ve done for this blog post, is a way to get readers to read what you have to say and towards the end, they can download your free gift. Studies have shown that when people are given something, they feel that they owe something in return… well some do…
You don’t have to give away an iPad or something expensive (unless your really killing it at blogging and can work it into your expenses). I generally give away one of my ebooks or something I found while searching the internet that will aid you in being successful.
As a quick example of how great this works, on my real estate investing website, I created an excel spreadsheet file that could save an investor tons of time by calculating difficult numbers automatically.
I put in the headline “(+ $147 REI tool for FREE). I put a web-form on that blog post and got a huge amount of sign ups from that blog post. This is a super secret method for building your email list by the way.
Create A Sense of Urgency
Making a blog post seem time sensitive is old school but I would like to think it still works.
Here are some one liners for creating a sense of urgency:
- Coming down soon
- Hurry before… (whatever you want to say)
- Make sure you…
- xxxx readers loved this!
- Read This!
These simple lines will make a reader feel that they need to read your post before something happens. It’s your choice whether or not you abide by what you say.
I wouldn’t use this method too much because eventually readers will get hip to what you’re doing. Keep this in your bag of tricks and only pull it out on special blog posts. You’ll know the ones you need this method on.
Pay attention to what grabs your attention
One of the biggest parts of creating attention grabbing headlines is paying attention to what works on you. If a blog post title gets your attention and you know the game like me, then you need to find a way to use it in on your blog. I do this all the time.
I’m not a professional copy-writer but I do know what works because I see what professional copy-writers use and I pay attention to how their methods work on me and others also.
It’s a great feeling when you know the business and still find yourself salivating at the mouth waiting to read a particular blog post. Pay attention to your actions and you will be coming up with attention commanding titles in no time.
The trick is to keep going until you figure it out. Test what works and learn your subscribers.
In conclusion:
I’ve given you 6 powerful tips for coming up with attention grabbing titles. These methods CAN be used together but be cautious of how long your title is. You don’t want your title looking like a paragraph.
Also, these methods are meant for blog posts and not emails even though some can be used in the subject line. The reason some can’t be used is because over the years, certain words in a subject line send red flags for spam which could result in your beautifully written email ending up in the spam folder.
I hope you found this post informative. Make sure you comment and share this with your friends. As promised, here is what I like to look at as my gift to the world. It’s my new eBook The Definition of Success and Why Yours Is Wrong.
Download it and let me know what ou think….
To your success my friend
